Beneath the Martyrs’ Field

Luis Chacón de la Torre, recognized for his successful humor novels and his strong commitment to social causes, now breaks into the historical novel genre with Beneath the Martyrs' Field, a work that combines suspense, intrigue and elements of science fiction and horror. With a plot that alternates between the 12th-13th centuries and the present day, Luis Chacón takes the reader on a fascinating adventure in the Castle of Calatrava La Nueva, former headquarters of the Order of Calatrava, where an unexpected archaeological find unleashes a series of ancestral mysteries.

The strength of this novel lies in its solid historical research, reflected in the detailed recreation of medieval times, with its military orders, such as the Knights Templar and Calatrava, immersed in crusades. This historical background is skillfully interwoven with a contemporary suspense plot, when a medical examiner and an archaeologist discover a buried body that could change the foundations of faith and science. Reviews highlight its ability to keep the reader caught up in the narrative from the first page, thanks to unexpected twists, detailed character development and the seamless blending of historical facts with supernatural elements.

Luis Chacón de la Torre, with a background in Environmental Sciences and a deep love for culture, brings to life a novel rich in detail and emotion, standing out not only for its agile writing style, but also for its ability to incorporate universal themes such as betrayal, power and faith. Luis Chacón de la Torre has a degree in Environmental Sciences and works as an Environmental Technician, but he combines his work with his passion as a writer. In his spare time he puts his witticisms on paper, which has already given him five books. He is a lover of culture: he travels whenever he can to other countries, and devours films, books, music, series ..... He loves animals (especially those that bite and sting), and spends an hour and a half a day exercising to relieve tension. So where does he find the time to write? Easy, he has no children...

He started as a writer with humor novels (with an award and two nominations), whose profits he decided to allocate (and still allocates) to associations and NGOs with social purposes, such as the Spanish Association Against Cancer (AECC), People Without Borders, Caritas, Women Affected by Breast Cancer, etc... His publications have, therefore, a strong solidarity component.

Luis Chacón is now making his debut in a completely different genre: the historical novel. In his new work he develops a thriller in the Middle Ages, between the twelfth and thirteenth centuries, with hints of science fiction, suspense ... and some horror. In his narrative he mentions knights of famous religious-military orders, such as the Templars and Calatrava, the crusades of the Holy Land, mythological beings, as well as battles and historical characters... But it also tells us an alternative plot that happens in the present day in the Castle of Calatrava La Nueva, in Spain, former headquarters of the order of the Calatravan knights, where an archaeological team discovers a corpse in a cemetery of the fortress, a body that they have found thanks to a few files written more than half a century ago.

Set in 2020, in the middle of the pandemic, and ending three years later, this thrilling story will keep you in tension at all times, literally hooked to the book. You won't be able to stop reading
